Marion Jones Looks to Help WNBA Harden Their Image
Disgraced Olympic gold medal sprinter Marion Jones has been training with Sandy Brondello and her husband Olaf Lange (assistant coaches for the San Antonio Silver Stars) in hopes of a basketball career in the WNBA. Jones is 15 months removed from her 6 months in prison after admitting steroid use and lying to US Feds investigating the BALCO case.
The 34-year-old ex-con mother of 3: "I thought it would be an interesting journey if I decided to do this," Jones told the New York Times. "It would give me an opportunity to share my message with young people on a bigger platform. It would give me an opportunity to get a second chance."
She was drafted in the third round by the Phoenix Mercury in 2003
