16-Year Old Abby Sunderland Lost at Sea

Recall Abby Sunderland? 16-year-old Sunderland of Thousand Oaks set out to become the youngest person to sail around the world alone.

Recall what we said about that attempt? A) "Where's her tutor?" and B) "She plans on being away for 6 months...and certain disaster."

Yep, she's lost. Sportress of Blogitude reports, "At approximately 6:00 a.m. PST this morning, two emergency beacons on Abby Sunderland’s boat were manually activated by the 16-year-old girl after her 40-foot boat encountered 20-25 foot waves and 35-knot winds knocked her down twice."

Stupid attempt? Yes. Now emergency personnel will have to search for her - and they're upwards of 400 miles away. How much will that cost?

Stick to softball.
