Q. How Many SF Giants, uh, Associates Received World Series Rings?

A. 400 400 rings. And that's just the 'A' rings. Sorta takes the specialality (our word) out of them, no?

Philip Matier & Alan Ross report:

Ring thing: What was up with San Francisco Giants President Larry Baer presenting Larry Ellison with a World Series championship ring at the opening ceremony of Oracle OpenWorld?

"Oracle is one of our oldest corporate sponsors," Baer told us.

So along with Coca-Cola, AT&T, Chevron, Bank of America, Visa, Charles Schwab and other big advertisers at AT&T Park, they are entitled to a championship ring.

And not just any ring, but an "A" ring - the highest of the four grades handed out to 400 or so people associated with the team, from Giants starters to minor-leaguers to ballpark workers.

"Everyone got a ring of some kind," Baer said, adding: "And by the way, until the Series is over, we are still world champions."
And by 'we' he apparently means everyone but you.
