Mike Milbury Brawled with 12-Year-Old Pee Wee Hockey Player

Former general manager and head coach of the New York Islanders Mike Milbury was arrested last week for assaulting a 12-year-old youth hockey player at the Jack Kirrane Ice Skating Rink at Larz Anderson Park in Brookline.

The ex-Boston Bruin and current ice hockey analyst for the New England Sports Network (NESN), Hockey Night in Canada, and the NHL on NBC is was also an assistant coach of a pee wee hockey team.

Milbury is charged with one count of assault and battery on a child, one count of threats to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct, according to police.

The alleged victim was a player from an opposing team.

Mike Milbury. The same guy who once went into the MSG stands, removed a fan's shoe and beat him with it. The same guy who decided Maxim Lapierre was a punk who denigrated the game of hockey dropped gloves with a 12-year-old.

**Update: Brookline Recreation Director Lisa Paradis spoke to rink employees earlier this week after being contacted by the Boston Herald and said she considered the case closed: “There were two kids who were going at it on the ice and Mike came out and said, ‘Hey guys, break it up. Let’s make it a peaceful game.’ There was nothing inappropriate.” “Mike Milbury denies any allegations that there was an assault of any kind,” said Milbury’s attorney Daniel Rabinovitz. “He simply intervened in an altercation between his son and an opposing player. No one was struck, no one was injured and no one was threatened.”

Brookline police may be able to go to the videotape.
