“I’m just telling you right now, I would (cut him), and I’ll tell you why I would,” Esiason said. “It’s not in any way, shape or form — I think — benefiting this team.”
“I just think this whole thing — at least from my perspective right now in relation to who Mark Sanchez is, your starting quarterback — is a major mistake,” Esiason said.
“All you have to do is watch him throw the ball,” said Esiason. “Just watch him.”
“You can say whatever you want about Tim Tebow,” said Esiason. “He played some of the worst football that any quarterback has ever played in the history of the game last year at times.”
Have to agree with BE here. You do not want TT quarterbacking your team in the event Mark Sanchez gets injured. Despite those traps. The Jets are not going to cut him but -- shouldn't the real battle between Tebow and Greg McElroy...for third string? The answer is, 'yes.'

That's why he is in the broadcast booth instead of coaching.... Boomer is a great judge of football players if he only has to consider throwing ability. Fortunately, there are many other factors that go into being a football player. No, Tebow would probably never make it as a conventional QB. A good coach can see other potential though and use his players skills to full advantage. Tebow doesn't have to be a thrower to be a team leader. It's all in knowing how to utilize the skills you are dealt.

This is just straight crap. At the end of last season John Elway was saying, "I see absolutely no reason Tebow shouldn't start next year," other than the fact that the almost immediately TRADED him. What amazes me is that everyone wrapped up in this even John (Denver) Elway is basing an entire career path on his first season, which was only a half season, where Tim was thrown into the game without much actual practice with his teammates. I have read many comments about "Look at the Stats" it would appear that many of those giving the advise should follow it! John (Denver) Elway's rookie season was nearly identicle to Tim Tebows with the exception of John played the whole year! If we really want to see what Tim is capable then lets stop hating on him for who he is, and allow him to grow into the game. If in a few years he has failed then so be it, however if he does in fact become a success, you wont have to eat Crow!!!
There are so many professional athlets out there that are "Great" on the field and terrible role models and just plain bad people off the field. Of which neither can be said of Tim Tebow. I would much rather my kids learn leadership,respect and use Tim as a positive role model, than some of the other athlete's. Or are you so wrapped up in your team winning that nothing else matters???

Sometime last yer the Blitz had a breakdown of Boomer's stats versus Tebows after 175 throws or something. Tim had twice the TDs Boomer did.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, didn't Tebow take the Broncos into the play-off's in 2011. He was 7-4. Cam Newton was 6-10. Tebow also had TD–INT 17–9 and passing yards 2,383. That's not too bad for a 11 game season. Boomer should shut up... If he was an elite QB like Steve Young he'd know better than what he is saying...

TT is an option QB in a pass-happy league. He is also inexperienced. He should be converted to a running back/WR.
Tebow with the Broncos was like dating a stripper. Fun for 6 months but not a long term solution. Living in Denver, and a sportsbar bartender, I can honestly say that the people who fell in love with Tebow did not do it because of his playing. They like him as a person, and I can't argue that.
Most people attribute the Broncos' wins to TT, but his rating was 3rd worst, and he got ALOT of help from the defense and a kicker who could nail a 60+ yard field goal.
No matter how Manning does in Blue and Orange this season, it will be a great improvement.
It should play out. It should be TT who falls to third on the BACKUP depth chart. He can still do his wildcat crap but as the wildcat guy. NOT as the 2nd string quarterback. But the Jets are too media unsavy to admit that and get Greg his reps.

Good comment about Trent Dilfer...watched him weekly in Tampa...would 'cross my fingers' when he threw...realizing a good QB would have gotten 3-4 more first downs a a game...which would mean an average of 4 points a game...which for that season translate to around 10 wins a year vs. 8 (many games we would lose by 3 or less)-this meant that a good QB would have would have given this average team a playoff shot every year.
Having said that, Trent did win a superbowl that everyone understood..our defense is sooo good, Trent just don't loose the game..ball control and it worked.
Simple deduction or solution. If your team has an outstanding defense and just needs ball control, positive leadership to unify the team (daaa-thats why thy brought him in because of the Jets lack of unity)and can be an 'extra' for run plays (wishbone) then keep him. Sound familiar to what the coaches have been saying???
Conclusion...Tim should stay and bring such a unity and blessing to this team...coaches right-Boomer has been boomeranged on his comment and it shows...

He went on to win a state championship and 2 national championships in college ball.--along with a Heisman Trophy. Boomer may have been a better than average (lefty )QB and pro bowler as well. But he could not take getting hit,and after that he was less than average. A QB's skills are not just to throw the long ball it is to use all of the teams tools to get to the end zone and score and that ususally comes from the coach(s), that make the right play call. I do believe they said the same about ol' broadway Joe N. looks like they were proved wrong then as well.

Boomer has been calling for the firing of Tebow since he was first drafted. He's previously said that he shouldn't be in the NFL because his rookie stats didn't warrant him being paid. Funny, but if you look at Tebow's rookie stats and compare them with Boomer's rookie stats you'll see that they are BETTER in almost all catagories than Boomer's was!!
What this means is that Tebow will only have a mediocre career, will get to the Super Bowl, but sadly will lose. You may have been mediocre Boomer, but at least you were a better QB than you are a commentator.
Boomer may or may not be right about Tebow, but don't arbitrarily knock his credentials. He very likely still has a cannon for an arm. His LAST year in the league, when the Bengals re-signed him, he had a QB rating of 106, went 4-1 in the games he started, league MVP for the 1988 season, passed for 522 yards against the Redskins (while with the Cards). His mediocre season with the Jets was marked by THREE different head coaches and a crushing dead-ball hit from Bruce Smith that sidelined him for over a month. He very likely had two or three more excellent seasons left in him when he retired so he could spend more time with his ailing son. So, when he offers his informed opinion I will seriously consider it.

I read in training camp last year that the Broncos liked Adam Weber more than Tim Tebow. The deciding factors were that Tebow represented a number one pick and that Weber could safely be put on the practice squad. If that was not the case Tebow would have been cut by the Broncos last year.

He played in the NFL and when his career ended he had been selected to 4 Pro Bowls, passed for a 54% completion rate however never won the Super Bowl. Tim Tebow facts. He won two BCS championships while playing at Florida and also held the record for the ALL TIME SEC PASSING EFFICIENY AND TOTAL RUSHING TOUCHDOWNS at the conclusion of his college career. By the way for you folks out there that don't watch a lot of college football the SEC is a pretty good conference. It ranks right up there with Maryland. LOL He also won the HEISMAN as a sophomore. I won't bore everyone with what Tebow has accomplised at the pro level so far but, as you know, it's been pretty good. The internet is a great tool. As for Tebow, yes he did struggle last year, but then again he had no preseason preperation due to the lock out. Where there is not doubt is that he found a way to win from a team that was not winning, which is more than bummer ever did.

TT is a lightening rod for both his lovers and his haters. For a guy thrown into a bad situation with little support from his coach or Elway, he showed the ability to win, even if it was ugly. The NFL measures you by wins. The fans measure you by wins. Denver went to the playoffs and won. That put TT ahead of the majority of NFL QBs. Like him or hate him, he did it with class and with a good reputation. Unusual for the NFL today.

Boomer was an excellent QB and for several years would have been a top 5 QB aongside Elway, Marino, Montana and such. He's paid to have an opinion and he's qualified. Disagree with him if you like, but the problem with posters is they attack attack attack any opinion rather than counter with fact or any supporting evidence that's accurate.
Try this; TT wins. He made the playoffs in his first full season and he's a beast of an athelete (size speed power and heart). No one can argue that.
My opinion: he needs to be developed. He is a terrible practice qb (misses uncovered receivers in route practice) and that doesnt work in the NFL. He also doesn't read Ds well. He needs to work on throwing and watch a ton of film and be taught how to do it well. He needs time and the right opportunity. Neither will come in NYC.
BE was a Pro Bowl QB for about 3 seasons he was never as talented as people projected him to be.
Boomer speaks the truth. Tim Tebow is a joke at QB that is why Denver was so quick to cut him after acquiring Manning.
bottom line...Tebow is a great athlete, but he is not a good QB. If the NYJ's plan to use him at QB, a disappointment. Mark Sanchez has proven himself as a reliable QB, even though he is going through some rough times now. Every QB does at some point in their career. RB would probably be the best thing for Tebow because today's QB has to be able to put the ball in the air and do it well. That is only way you can win Super Bowls at this point in the NFL, i believe.
I wouldn't take the advice of anyone with a name like Boomer.

Mhm...right. Guys, seriously, chill out and take a step back. Tebow can't throw well, yea, but he's got agility and the ability to pull a team together into an actual team. Which, looking at recent camp issues, the Jets need more than anything.
Now, I'm not saying he should be the starter. Sanchez has the better arm, which is what the lack-luster WR core needs to be successful. But maybe put him up for fighting for 2nd-string. It's worth a shot. Anything is better than breaking out into a fight on the field on opening day, isn't it?

everyone is ripping trent dilfer. i used to think that trent dilfer was a bad qb too, then i watched an episode of espn where he threw one of the prime time dimes. he threw it 40 yards into a net the size of a bread basket. i won't ever talk bad about trent dilfers skills after that. you have to be pretty good to be on an nfl roster anyways. trent dilfer won a super bowl with the ravens and they prob wouldve gone back to back if they hadn't cut him. im not a tebow fan, but some of the wins he helped the broncos to last year were pretty impressive. i mean 15 points in the last two minutes. thats still pretty tough. don't think the book has been written on tebow just yet. lets wait and see.

Amazing, TT is a QB who can't throw and wins games in spite of expert predictions. When there is a call for TT to step up, he will, until then he will shut up and try to learn the Jet system. That's what real b'up QBs do.
Denver's defense was winning games last year not Tebow. He can be a great leader but is wasting what could be a good career trying to play a position he will not excel in at the NFL level. He needs to switch to another position such as TE.
Oh cut the crap with the defense. That was a popular catch phrase answer and no one can back it up. They weren't even very good.
