(Video) Bucs hit Eli Manning as he kneeled so Giants coach Coughlin told Greg Schiano to get off his lawn

Eli Manning was knocked down as the Giants ran down the clock on their 41-34 victory over the Tampa Bay Bucs today.

So Giants head coach Tom Coughlin lectured Bucs chief Greg Schiano during their post game handsake, "What was that all about?!"

"I don't think you do that," Coughlin said. "You don't do that in this league. Not only that, you jeopardize the offensive line, you jeopardize the quarterback. Thank goodness we didn't get anybody hurt -- that I know of. A couple of linemen were late getting in."

"That was a first," Manning said. "Obviously, I think it's a little bit of a cheap shot. We're taking a knee, we're in a friendly way and they're firing off, and that's a way to get someone hurt."

Giants center David Baas, one of the unprepared who was knocked into Manning added, "All I'm saying is you win or you lose with class."

Schiano? "I don't know if that's not something that's done in the National Football League but what I do with our football team is we fight until they tell us game over. And there's nothing dirty about it, there's nothing illegal about it. We crowd the ball like a sneak defense and try to knock it loose. We're not going to quit -- that's just the way I coach and teach our players. If some people are upset about it, that's just the way it goes. I don't have any hesitation. That's the way we play. We play clean, hard football until they tell us the game is over."

Weak coach. Weak.

Giants guard Chris Snee said, "It's just unfortunate this is what we have to talk about when you have a great fourth-quarter game between two teams, and all you're talking about is really a bush-league play at the end. Fortunately, nobody got hurt. Guys are throwing helmets into knees. It's the end of the game. They might do that in college, but we don't do that here."

"We do what we're coached," Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy said. "I'll leave it at that."

Stop your crying Tom - maybe if you taught your boys to fight the whole game thru - you wouldn't have to try to come back against the 4th weekest team in the league last year!

Ohhhh no! Poor Eli landed on his back!! Oh wait.. We're watching football... American football that is. Go schiano and go bucs. Cry about your qb tripping some more.. We didn't even touch him and you guys are so sensitive. Who cares if we play every second of football?? Sorry for playing the game and not rolling over in defeat.

The game WAS OVER. They knew Eli was going to kneel down so what was the point? I am all for playing til the very end but they had their chance to win the Giants practically said here you go another win and that sorry team in Tampa couldn't seal the deal haha.

Shiano is a bush-league pice of sh*t... You had your chance to play "tough guys" during the game. A 'REAL' nfl head coach knows how to lose with dignity and respect - Shiano has neither.

coughlin the game is 60 minutes long not 59:59. play for the whole time lose the kneeldown.

Why does the NFL even allow the kneel down? This is the same league that allowed the giants to fall down at the goal line so as to not score.

""Why does the NFL even allow the kneel down? This is the same league that allowed the giants to fall down at the goal line so as to not score.""

That would be the same league that allowed the Patriots to LET THE GIANTS SCORE so they could get the ball back with more time on the clock - jacknuts...

Seriously, if there is even a second left in the game and one team chooses to play that second, then they can play it. If we know there is to be a kneeldown and we are to accept it, then should it considered wrong to block a pass if we "know" there will be a pass? It's a game of 60 minutes and you get to spend that 60 minutes as you must within the rules to win. What's the point of 60 minutes if you cant use it? Running the clock out is a strategy of the game, and there has to be a counter-strategy.

Unless the rules state that "a team with possesion and a lead can run the clock out and there is nothing the defense can do", let the defense do what they can.

How come MOST folks who posted are 'anonymous' ?? Don't you have the GUTS to sign your name after making a remark??
The game was basically O-V-E-R. Let 'em take a knee and head into the locker room. What's the big deal?
Do the complainers expect the Giants to run a basic belly (run) play with seconds on the clock?
Respectfully submitted, Paco N. Martinez
WELL WELL WELL--no WONDER everyone is 'anonymous'!! After TRYING to post 5x 6x I just gave up and clicked anonymous. You jerks at website ought to make it EASIER to sign your g.d. name, HUH?

Guys the game isn't over til the clock says 0:00. The Giants should have been ready when the Bucs showed they were coming.

Schiano got it right. Play for 60 minutes. THis kneeling down crap is for girls.

Coughlin doesn't know how close he was to being bitch-slapped

mmmm although it's highly unlikely with the bull rush on the line like that there's a slight possibility for a miscued snap or other mistake a potential recovered ball for a touchdown and it's overtime
