Slow, Left Field Fly Rule Instituted by MLB for 2012 WildCard

Umpire Sam Holbrook took his sweet ole time to call the 'infield fly rule' on Andrelton Simmons pop somewhere in the middle of left field during yesterday's Cardinals / Braves game. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez played the game under protest and, Joe Torre made the call to deny the protest quicker than Holbrook made the original one.

Cards shortstop Pete Kozma said, "Hey, I'm an infielder and I was out there..."

Braves fans didn't see all the humor and every outfield pop became an 'infield fly' for the rest of the game.

Chipper Jones and Gonzalez talked about it after the game.

Hey, everyone knew this game was going to the Cardinals as soon as Mike Francesa said no way they could be Braves starter Kris Medlen.
