One way WFAN could have assured Mike Francesa showed up at the True Blue NYPD fundraiser

17,000 plus showed up at Yankee Stadium last night for the WFAN NYPD True Blue softball fundraiser to honor the memories of slain officers Brian Moore, Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu (with proceeds benefiting the Silver Shield Foundation, the Widows' and Children's Fund, and the families of Moore, Ramos and Liu).

On May 14th, A WFAN source texted:

Check your tapes. Asswipe reading for WFAN Day at the Den at Mohegan Sun goes with 'Morning Show' & 'Joe & Evan' will be there. Then sadly reading for WFAN's Boomer and Carton and the New York Yankees present "True Blue" softball fundraiser refuses to say B&C, goes with softball event only.

And, true to form, Francesa didn't show up for the event.

Asked about it, Francesa replied, "I am not talking about the softball game."

Which only fueled the rumor that management wanted B&C to involve Mike but Carton blocked him.

Reached out to a source that was closely involved with all parties and was told in no uncertain terms:

Complete fabrication. Mike didn't want anything to do with the event. If he had half a brain he should have showed up and shocked the place. But...

Bam. Matthew Funtime has a solution for any future WFAN events in which they want all the programs to attend.

Competitive eating competition.
