Update: Why Yardbarker terminated all those sites yesterday

Yesterday many sites previously within the Yardbarker network received written notice of termination from Benjamin Maggin, Vice President of Business Development, General and Administrative Yardbarker/FOX Sports, as reported here. We reached out to YB for comment and got the impersonal response one would expect from the company that dumped the termination letters on what had been its backbone via UPS.

Thanks for the note. We have determined that FSEN can no longer support the number of sites we have in the network and unfortunately had to make some difficult decisions in this process. This termination is not reflective of anything other than a need to reduce the number of publishers to a more manageable number that we can more adequately support into the future. We appreciate having worked with you and wish you the best going forward.

FSEN will continue processing publisher payments on our regular net 60 day cycle. Please remember that we only issue payments for months in which the total owed amounts exceed $25.00. Your last official FSEN payment should be sent out no later than April 30th and will cover February revenue share and any other outstanding amounts owed.

You know how hard it is to not promote the number of sites Yardbarker had in its network? Exactly.

Now perhaps you'll have SEO killing 100% copies of posts already appearing on the sites of the original authors solely up on YB. Excellent business concept. And pretty much against Google's recommendation regarding duplicate content as 'practices like this can result in a poor user experience, when a visitor sees substantially the same content repeated within a set of search results.'
