44th NYPD v FDNY Fun City Bowl ends in bloody handshake line brawl

The 44th annual FDNY vs. NYPD Fun City Football Bowl took place Sunday at MCU Park on Coney Island. “It is fitting that the FDNY/NYPD Fun City Bowl is returning to the city they serve,” said Police Commissioner William J. Bratton said in announcing the event. “MCU Park in Coney Island is the perfect venue to host what will undoubtedly be a spirited display of sportsmanship in the name of some exceptional charities. I wish both teams all the best in this terrific matchup.”

One Bronx firefighter, Tom Slane, spiritedly walked away from the handshake line brawl...undoubtedly bloodied.

Proceeds benefit the NYPD PBA Widows’ and Children’s Fund and the FDNY Fire Families Transport Foundation.

The NYPD knocked off the FDNY 29-13.
