And that is why they are now forced to spend tons of cash on commercials for Skip Bayless' show and plaster even more commercials for it and Colin Cowherd and Garbage Time on mother network FOX sporting events.
So, how bad are the ratings? The last 12 months of his work with ESPN (July 2015 - June 2016) averaged 434,000 viewers. “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” had just 125,000 viewers with its post-Labor Day premiere. The next show? Down 30% from there.
Maury Brown reports, "As to how Colin Cowherd has performed, The Herd at 12pm saw gains of 71% in viewers (118,000 vs. 69,000) and 138% in A18-49 (69,000 vs. 29,000) compared to its Friday average last October. Friday’s Herd was the second-most watched telecast of the program on FS1."
So now every time you see an ad for 'Undisputed' (even more so when you see it on, say, CNBC...) - you now why.
