TMZ Sports leads TMZ to overall Adweek Hot List 'Digital Brand of the Year' Win

TMZ will clean up in next week's Adweek Hot List awards, according to Media Ink. Led by its sports division, the AOL owned property has been named 'Hottest Digital Brand of the Year.'

TMZ, long known for celebrity gossip, broke some serious news in the past year that had far-reaching impact and stirred national debate. It was the first to post the racist comments of Donald Sterling talking to his girlfriend, V. Stiviano, which triggered a national uproar that ultimately led the NBA to force him to sell the Los Angeles Clippers.

It was also the first to post the video of NFL Ravens star Ray Rice punching out his fiancée in an Atlantic City casino elevator. The video forced NFL boss Roger Goodell to enforce a longer suspension and stirred a whole debate on domestic abuse among NFL families.
