Mike Francesa treated the Post's Andrew Marchand like a rented mule

Mike Francesa, go figure, lied when he said he had a job but his non-compete kept him from announcing it until April 2, 2018 -- as we reported at the time. Today, personal sycophant Neil Best (who is still writing, yes!) brushed that off as 'He has been free to sign elsewhere since April 1 and has been working with CAA, a sports and entertainment agency, on what comes next. Apparently that “next” is at hand, the specifics of it not yet clear.'

Yesterday the still unemployed Francesa used the Post's Andrew Marchand to drum up buzz with his Mike Francesa 'desperate' to return to radio with WFAN 'in play' piece. ('5 minutes' of, ahem, talk resulted in 1 quote.)

Even Best's 'reports' is ridiculous.

Saying “it is time to return to WFAN,” Mike Francesa told Newsday Tuesday morning that he has been working on a project with the agency CAA that includes working with WFAN in some form.

Francesa also alluded cryptically to a “campaign” to keep him from returning to the station that he left in December.

Francesa declined to answer follow-up questions about that or any other aspect of what he said, which was, “I have been working on a project with CAA for months. That will be explained in the days ahead.

That nugget was followed by, perhaps, the dumbest quote out of the king of stupidity that you will ever read:

“This is for those who started this campaign in recent days. I didn’t decide to go back to WFAN until I was told I better not go back. For those behind it, that was the moment I decided to return."

Got that? You can't make it up. Or even edit it.

Perhaps Mike is going to do CBS Sports Minutes. You know - the one's he claimed to hate but that he only did that because they wouldn't let him do them at the time. Yeah, that's the ticket -- he's replacing John Feinstein on those.
