Another Google privacy disaster: Turning the Chrome omnibox into a searchbox

Google has done it again. Any search you make in any search engine (it seems) now becomes an autocomplete in the address bar (aka the omnibox).

Complaints on the Google Chrome forum pointing out the obvious privacy invasion are ongoing with no answer, of course, from Google.

Stop showing search results in the Chrome address bar!

Partial fix: Use 2 different search engines. Set Chrome settings--appearance--Show home button to any search engine you want, say, DuckDuckGo.com -- and then use that exclusively for search. Secondly set Set Chrome settings--search engine--Search engine used in the address bar to any OTHER site, say Bing.com and never use that engine for search via the web.

It cuts down a bit on Chrome autocompleting items you've physically searched for in said search engine until Google fixes this crap.

Partial fix part 2: In order to STOP search results from trumping web addresses enter chrome://flags/ into the box. From there use CTRL-F to find 'Omnibox Google Drive Document suggestions' - tick that to 'disabled.'
