Don't Be Surprised if MLB Bans Players from Tossing Balls to Fans after One Dies in Texas

Texas Rangers left fielder Josh Hamilton tossed a foul ball to 39-year-old Shannon Stone of Brownwood who had been sitting in the first row of bleachers behind the out-of-town scoreboard at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington last night. According to R&R, Hamilton flipped the ball in his direction and the Shannon leaned over, caught the ball, and fell 20 feet in between in the gap between the railing and the back of the scoreboard in left field onto concrete.

The fall was witnessed by his young son.

50-year-old Ronnie Hargis was sitting next to the Stone: “I tried to grab him, but I couldn’t. I tried to slow him down a little bit. He went straight down.”

He died at John Peter Hospital. Of all the people for this to have happened to, we'd assume Josh is besides himself.

And that just might be the end of that tradition.
