On April 23, 2005 -- the San Francisco 49ers made Alex Smith the #1 pick in the NFL draft. The Green Bay Packers took the next QB, Aaron Rodgers, at 24. At the time CBS 5 (SF KPIX-TV) sports director Dennis O’Donnell asked him how disappointed he was that he wouldn't be a 49er. AR replied, "Not as disappointed as the 49ers will be that they didn't draft me..."
