JBU Partners with Kimberly-Clark for 36th Annual Toilet Paper Game

Third Annual Food Drive Hosted to Support Local Food Bank

SILOAM SPRINGS, Arkansas (Oct. 24, 2016) – John Brown University’s men’s basketball season tips off Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the 36th Annual Toilet Paper Game, powered by Kimberly-Clark, as the Golden Eagles face Central Baptist (Arkansas) in the Bill George Arena.

A tradition that began in the early 1980s, the Toilet Paper Game invites JBU fans to toss a roll oftoilet paper onto the court after JBU’s first field goal, incurring a technical foul. USA Today described it as the “best technical foul in all of sports” and Sports Weekly listed the game as a “top fan tradition in college basketball.”

This year, JBU has teamed up with Kimberly-Clark to provide the Manna Center, a local food bank, with non-perishable food items as part of the annual food drive. Kimberly-Clark will supply 2,016 rolls of Scott 1000 toilet paper to be donated to the Manna Center and 2,000 rolls of Cottonelle toilet paper for the toss. Spectators will receive a roll of Cottonelle toilet paper in exchange for non-perishable food items.

“The Toilet Paper Game is timed perfectly to anticipate the shortage food pantries experience during the holiday season,” Robyn Daugherty, JBU athletic director, said. “With the support of Kimberly-Clark and thousands of JBU fans, we’re excited for the opportunity to make a significant contribution to our local community.”

With more than 2,900 canned food items donated over the last two years, the food drive for the Manna Center is part of the Sooner Athletic Conference’s “The SAC Gives Back” initiative.

John Brown University is a leading private Christian university, a member of the NAIA Division I and competes in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). Arkansas’ top ranked regional university (U.S. News Best Colleges, 2017), JBU enrolls more than 2,700 students from 40 states and 37 countries in its traditional undergraduate, graduate, degree completion and concurrent education programs.
