Hydroxycut Pulled...Tylenol Allowed to Remain on Market

The FDA continued its never ending attack on herbal products by 'warning consumers to stop using Hydroxycut products.' Why? The FDA has "received 23 reports of serious health problems ranging from jaundice and elevated liver enzymes, an indicator of potential liver injury, to liver damage requiring liver transplant. One death was due to liver failure."

“The FDA urges consumers to discontinue use of Hydroxycut products in order to avoid any undue risk. Adverse events are rare, but exist. Consumers should consult a physician or other health care professional if they are experiencing symptoms possibly associated with these products,” said Linda Katz, M.D., interim chief medical officer of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

So 1 death and 23 adverse reaction reports are submitted after millions of users have safely used the product and Iovate Health Sciences is forced to pull Hydroxycut. How about Tylenol?

Tylenol, made by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, contains acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol. Acetaminophen overdose "is the #1 cause of calls to the Poison Control Centers across the US.

It is estimated that acetaminophen poisoning calls exceed 100,000 per year. Studies indicate that acetaminophen overdose results in over 56,000 injuries, 2,500 hospitalizations, and an estimated 450 deaths per year."

Video - Philly NBC 10 Sportscaster John Clark Caught

John Clark of NBC 10 in Philadelphia, who used to imitate Phillies announcer Harry Kalas, is caught on video at the 4/29 Bruce Springsteen concert.

OK, bad enough (being caught at a Springsteen concert). But...Clark is nabbed at the 0:25 mark cupping his ear to 'is there anybody alive out there...'

Heidi Northcott Says Jose Canseco to try MMA...

Jose Canseco is going to try Mixed Martial Arts according to his girlfriend Heidi Northcott. Northcott said that Canseco is going to compete in the 'Super Hulk Tournament' in what Sherdog calls "a true Japanese mixed martial arts-style spectacle."

Jose will face the 350lbs, 7' 2" Hong Man "Techno Goliath" Choi. Choi is 1 - 2 in his MMA career. The giant Choi had a brain tumor removed in 2008 that affected his vision.

"I have no idea if I can do it," Canseco said Thursday night. "It's a tough sport."

Also on the card is Bob "The Beast" Sapp, who spent some time in the NFL with various teams in the late 90s.

Canseco will have his work cut out for him if this is not a worked match. Choi loses in the vid below (to 30-1 Emelianenko Fedor) - but you get the idea. He is a tough guy. His mma record is unremarkable but he has a very respectable kickboxing history. And if Jose has issues with Danny Partridge...
