Jim Lampley's tearful final sign-off on HBO's last ever boxing broadcast
Jim Lampley was the first program host on New York's sports talk radio station WFAN when it began operation on July 1, 1987 and the first host we at the Blitz spoke to. Back then the hosts answered the phones themselves. Jim answered and said, "Hi, you want to talk sports?" Thinking it was a screener we replied, "With you??"
This past weekend the man gave a tear filled final sign-off on HBO's last ever (for now!) boxing broadcast.
