How to create a Mac desktop shortcut to double click & sleep

We just added an Apple iMac and for the past week could not figure out how to create an actual desktop shortcut we could double-click to put the computer to sleep. Four key commands that use both hands and reaching behind the monitor to hit the power button are not 'shortcuts!'

Finally. Here is how to create a Mac desktop shortcut to double click & put your Apple to sleep:

  1. Open Script Editor (use the search magnifying glass if you don't have it in your dock)
  2. Click Desktop on the left
  3. Click New Document
  4. Cut and paste the following without the outside quotes: 'tell application "Finder" to sleep'
  5. Click 'File' from up top.
  6. Save as Sleep.
  7. Where: Desktop - iCloud
  8. File Format: Application
Bam. You now should have a clickable icon on your desktop that puts that Mac to sleep.
