Welcome back: NY Knicks guard Jason Kidd (above with newest wife Porschla Coleman at a Compound Foundation event via Kidd's Twitter account) was arrested on a DWI charge early this morning according to Taylor K. Vecsey bwo Southampton Town police:
Kidd, 39, was arraigned on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Sunday morning in Southampton Town Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.
Sag Harbor attorney Eddie Burke Jr. said he was on his way to speak with Kidd. "We await further discovery from the district attorney's office," Burke said.
Kidd bought a house last year in Water Mill for a reported $5.97 million.
*Update via the Patch: "Police said that Kidd's 2010 Cadillac Escalade struck a telephone pole and went into the woods near the intersection of Cobb Road and Little Cobb Road in Water Mill, not far from his Hamptons house. Police responded at 1:56 a.m.
Kidd, 39, was alone in the car, according to police. He was transported to Southampton Hospital for minor injuries and released into police custody."
The NY Post adds that it appears he 'escaped death' by inches and showed 'no signs' of breaking before running off the road.
Kidd & Coleman had attended Ne-Yo's 1st Annual Compound Foundation "Fostering A Legacy" Benefit at William Nuti's (CEO of NCR) estate on Further Lane in East Hampton honoring George Lucas earlier in the evening...as did Porschla's ex, Russell Simmons. Kidd and Coleman then partied at the SL East nightclub in East Hampton. Dancing on tabletops while the lady sat in the corner. (Pic above via Post) A TMZ report says "Kidd appeared to be so drunk in the moments leading up to his DWI arrest ... that he had to be carried out of the club."
So...Kidd dropped the Porschla off and then headed back out in the Cadillac?
