Intoxication manslaughter charges got Josh Brent 1st row Cowboys tickets, Boomer Esiason's ire

Josh Brent, facing intoxication manslaughter charges as a result of the crash that killed his teammate Jerry Brown, attended Jerry's funeral with Brown's family. Yesterday, Brent attended the Cowboys / Steelers game because "Our team and our players wanted him today on the sideline," owner Jerry Jones said Sunday. "Jerry's mother (Stacey Jackson) asked us directly as a group. She said, 'Support him. Help him. He needs your help. Jerry wants that. I want that.' His teammates asked him to come and be down there with them."

Boomer Esiason didn't agree with Brent's front-and-center location yesterday. "Football players are an example and Josh Brent is the worst of those examples," Booms said on CBS.

NFL.Com's Kevin Patra (NFL Network Assignment Editor), interestingly writing as 'we,' felt Esiason went too far, "We have to imagine that Esiason didn't have all the facts before commenting. The fact that Brown's mother, who has continually supported Brent after the tragic event, asked the team to help the nose tackle and wanted him on the sideline with his teammates means a lot in this situation."

Yeah, sorry Kevin. Brown's mother may forgive and forget. We do not.

This morning, with 'all the facts' Boomer said that he even went as far as to call the Cowboys and today on his WFAN show added, "...that young man standing on the sidelines is an insult to anyone whose ever been a victim of a drunk driving accident. Which in a large part is not an accident - it's a way that people choose to live their lives to get behind the wheel when they drink like that."

Strong stuff. Expect more big things to come for, from Boomer Esiason. And that he'll be around longer than PSY is.
