Rutgers Student Streams Roommate's Gay Sex; Deletes Tweets

American Pie it isn't. Rutgers students Dharun Ravi of Plainsboro and Molly Wei of Princeton have been charged with two counts of invasion of privacy for using a webcam to apparently secretly tape and broadcast Ravi's roommate having sex.

Ravi apparently tweeted:

Roommate asked for the room till midnight. I went into molly's room and turned on my webcam. I saw him making out with a dude. Yay.

and

Anyone with iChat, I dare you to video chat me between the hours of 9:30 and 12. Yes it's happening again.

And then his Twitter account disappeared.

Unfortunately for Dharun? Google Cache.


Wei was ROR; Ravi was released on $25,000 bail.

Anyone with information on this, or similar incidents, is asked to call the Rutgers University Police Department at (732) 932-8025, or the county prosecutor's office at (732) 745-3300.

*Update - the 18-year-old victim from Ridgewood, NJ? Believed to have jumped from the George Washington bridge on September 23rd - killing himself.
