From the Stands Video of Derek Jeter's 3000th Hit

Here is video from Yankee Stadium of Derek Jeter's 3000th hit.

And with the DJ3K hit came the inevitable 3000 hit souvenirs.

But the fan who caught the ball? Verizon Wirless employee Christian C-Lo Lopez of Highland Mills, NY didn't want anything. So the Yankees took the ball and gave Mr. Lopez 4 Champions Suite tickets (which start at $250) from now until the World Series. Front row Legends Seats (which start at $550) for tomorrow's game against the Rays. Plus signed balls, bats, and jerseys.

“He deserved this,” Lopez said in an interview on the YES Network. ”He worked so hard for this. He’s been in the league for so long. I’m not really the kind to take something away from him. He earned it.”

Would have auctioned that off. Sorry. Yankees rip you for every cent. DJ has made over $200 million in his career. He could have paid for your future kid's college.

*Update, audio of both Michael Kay and John Sterling's call is available here and his post-game 'hat tip' is below.
