Kid who caught A-Rod's HR to tie Lou Gehrig did so in his hat

Paul O'Neil has nothing on Asheboro, North Carolina's Randy Kearns. Alex Rodriguez hit his 23rd career grand slam against the Braves last night, tying Lou Gehrig for the most all-time. On the 73rd anniversary of Lou Gehrig's last professional game...and a Randy caught it, in his hat.

15-year-old Yankee fan Randy Kearns of Eastern Randolph High caught the grand slam in his cap and later returned the ball to Arod. “I thought it’d be cool to give it back to him,” said Kearns, who had driven 5 hours from North Carolina to see the game. “Nice catch!” A-Rod said when he met Kearns -- giving him a signed jersey, bat, and baseballs. The two posed for pictures.

A-Rod told him, “That’s pretty generous.” He was talking about Kearns. (Who was not the only Yankees fan in attendance...)
