Late August, 11 years ago, a limo pulled up and we were on our way to Windows on the World in the North Tower of the World Trade Center for dinner. It meant I was able to grab some great pics from the street and from our seats on the 107th floor of the WTC. The picture above is of the Twin Towers on our way in on the New Jersey Turnpike. The next two are from the car.
An interesting side-note for us was that we rode the elevator up with folks from a specialty cake company in Brooklyn. They had a cake for a Sweet 16 party. We asked them if they had taken a picture of the cake, which was of a little girl. They hadn't. We promised to get them a copy of our photo. Now, we're working on scanning the little girl photo as we speak and we have a lead as to the company. The pics below are from our table in WOTW (the 2nd pic is of the old Millenium Hilton Hotel).
A friend, a fellow Buick Grand National owner, lived in an apartment near the Twin Towers. A few weeks later the 9-11 bombings occurred. The pic below was from his bedroom.
We have about a dozen more pics being scanned. May or may not have them up today. In the meantime, never forget.
