Michael Kay Endorsed the Yankees Losing some Games at the End of the Season for Scouting Purposes

Ahh, how happy were Yankees fans, after a long fought 2nd half battle for the AL East and the best overall record? YES Network's (and WEPN ratings drag) Michael Kay? He thought, using his out loud voice, that maybe the Yankees should have lost a couple of those games and not went for the gold ring so that they could more easier scout their playoff opponent. Phil Mushnick relays:

Monday, during Red Sox-Yankees, Kay followed a chat about playoff variables with this:

“It’s also an interesting debate — and we don’t want to get your minds spinning — but do you even want to finish with the best record? You have to sit around and wonder where you’re going. You don’t even know what team you’re playing. You don’t know who to scout.”

Think about it. The Yankees could have dropped a few and therefore been able to play either the Orioles or the Rangers today.

Consider your mind blown.
