OSU printed "wear black" on tickets; Aroused, they've cancelled the 'culturally insensitive' promo

Steve Clark, vice president of university relations for Oregon State recently said, "The university and the athletic department was hoping to encourage attendance and support our football game so certain games wear orange attire, two games wear black attire." They even printed tickets and posters with "wear orange" or "wear black" on them.

But then, DUN DUN DUN: "This community is not ready for having a blackout Reser [The Beaver's home stadium] or a wear black day when students don't realize wearing black could be really culturally insensitive," said Amelia Harris, president of the Associated Students of OSU.

So what's the concern? That the call to 'wear black' would extend to makeup. In 2007, "during a student campaign called "Blackout Reser," some students wore black face paint and afro wigs."

Oh those stupid Beavers.

So, after those concerns were spewed, they've 'officially' cancelled the wear black promotion.

"So we're taking pride that we're actually doing well this year, and saying that they're no longer behind us - it's kind of like ... why?" asked sophomore Sarah Folytn.

Indeed Sarah, indeed.
