Explosive: Dwight Gooden Plotted with his Cousins to Kill Tampa Cops in Winter of 1986

Former Mets (and Yankees) great Dwight Gooden (whom Bob hung with and introduced at an event back in March 2011) has a book coming out. Doc: A Memoir drops on June 4th (oopsie, the same day as Craig Carton's Loudmouth).

And while you already know that Doc missed The Mets’ Victory Parade in 1986 because he was doing coke, he now reveals this, sickening twist:

After a December 1986 dust-up with Tampa cops led to his arrest and national headlines, Gooden’s cousins hatched a plan for vengeance.

“The idea was that we would get our revenge by driving around Tampa at a high rate of speed. Then, when a cop pulled us over — any cop — bang! We were going to blast him.”

Gooden actually hopped in his cousins’ pickup truck but reconsidered after driving a block. “I can’t go through with this,” he said.

Jesus.
