Good stuff.
The Big Lead? They penned Phil Mushnick Doesn't Think Donald Sterling Should Be Held Accountable For 'Ugly Comments' Because He's 81. Stephen Douglas reasoned Mushnick meant, "Sure, this racist uncle might own a professional basketball team and seem to get around OK what with his 20-something girlfriend, but he doesn’t know what he’s saying. He’s just like your racist uncle, but with court side seats and a lengthy history of racist-type behavior."
Ed Sherman? Did Phil Mushnick really write Sterling shouldn’t be held accountable because he is 81?, questioning, "Not sure what Mushnick’s intent is here, but giving Sterling a sliver of an excuse for his outrageous comments isn’t going to go down well. As you would expect, Mushnick is getting hammered on Twitter."
Full circle, LA Clippers are sold. “The transaction in which Steve Ballmer purchased the Los Angeles Clippers closed today following the entry of an order by a California court confirming the authority of Shelly Sterling, on behalf of the Sterling Family Trust, to sell the team,” the NBA announced. “The NBA Board of Governors previously approved the sale and Ballmer is now the Clippers Governor.”
Why was Shelly given the right to make decisions? Oh, right -- because Donald has been ruled of not sound mind. Exactly what Mushnick reasoned 3 months ago - to blog and Twitter attack. Today, finally -- Boomer Esiason reasoned the same exact thing out loud, "How is Donald Sterlng incompetent to make decisions today but he was competent to make racist statements that mean something then?"
Indeed. This is why Boomer will be great with an 11th job. Like appearing on Showtime's Inside the NFL or something would be nice.....just sayin'
*Update, CBS confirms such:
Showtime's Emmy-award winning show 'Inside the NFL' -- cable's longest running series -- is getting a facelift for the 2014 NFL season, as well as a new night.
A completely different cast will be featured in 2014: former Ravens safety and Super Bowl champion Ed Reed, current Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall and CBS Sports' Boomer Esiason join Phil Simms as analysts, with Greg Gumbel stepping in as the new host, Showtime Sports GM Stephen Espinoza and CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus announced Thursday.
"The additions of Greg as host, along with new analysts Boomer, Ed and Brandon, combined with Phil, follow along in the tradition of excellence that fans have come to expect from this show," McManus said. "With Ed just coming off the playing field and Brandon still on it, this show truly brings a unique perspective that is unseen on any other show."
