Al Michaels couldn't stand to hear Boomer Esiason talk while they worked Super Bowl XXXIV together
Boomer Esiason gave a speech in 1998 in which he said Al Michaels sucked and that he should do MNF alone. In 2011, Michaels responded to a caller's question of whether or not WFAN's Esiason was the biggest jerk that he's ever worked with while on the Howard Stern Show. And there was a lot of back and forth last year when Al released his book. Boomer was pissed at the time that Stern & Michael Kay used his name to be part of the conversation with Michaels. Boomer added at the time, "Don Ohlmeyer did not fire me," to which Craig Carton responded, "Michaels is a liar."
This January 30, 2000 video of Michaels & Esiason working Super Bowl XXXIV is so uncomfortable is is scary. The tension is palatable as Boomer gives a long winded keys to the game segment ... and Al Michaels can't wait for him to shut up.
