Watch team manager Jerry Skolnik, who battles multiple disabilities, take his first HS basketball shot

Jim Seimas writes of Jerry Skolnik:

"Santa Cruz High (CA) basketball team manager Jerry Skolnik has an intellectual and developmental disability that leaves him unable to speak.

His ears, however, work fine. That might explain why the 5-foot-7, 115-pound senior waved his arms for more energy from the supportive crowd as he and his teammates took the floor late in the fourth quarter of a 77-43 rout of crosstown rival Harbor to open Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League play Wednesday night.

Apparently, his shot works fine, too.

Skolnik, the Cardinals’ inspirational team manager, suited up for the first time in his high school career and scored the final field goal for the defending SCCAL and Central Coast Section Division IV champions, sending teammates into a frenzy..."

Tip of the cap goes to Harbor for that.

Bam.
