Boomer Esiason: Mike Francesa is posturing and I don't want his job anyway

Told you on Valentine's day that Craig Carton was in the running to replace Mike Francesa when the latter retires. That scenario had Boomer Esiason paired with Gregg Giannotti for mornings as the former's filming spots for every media company in NYC typically takes place in the mid morning or afternoon. Yet the great Charles Curtis reports that Esiason fielded 'would you replace Mike' questions yesterday anyway.

"I'm happy with where I am," Esiason answered at Monday's Boomer Esiason Foundation event at New York City's Breitling Boutique where a portion of watch sales went to his Cystic Fibrosis charity. "I got a great partner, I only have to work four hours a day. [Francesa's got] a five-and-a-half hour job! I like what I'm doing.

"It's changed my life for the better," he continued. "There's nothing better than being the first on the radio to talk about something. By the time one o'clock comes rolling around, a lot of people have already digested a lot of stuff. Really, I think what Mike does a really good job of is looking forward to the games at night. We're more reactionary."

Interesting how Esiason didn't mention Carton by name there.

Francesa desperately wants to shorten his contract, getting out in early 2017. He made sure to let everyone know that once we broke the news. But even his lowered ratings are better than anyone else WFAN could throw in there so why would they cut him free early? Sure they hate him as much as FOX Sports does but they isn't looking at FS1 level Francesa awful ratings...

Boomer commented on Francesa's acting out too.

"It's like anything else, it's posturing," Esiason said. "We all do it at times. Sometimes we say things we regret. I'm not sure he does, but I don't think he's retiring anytime soon. He's got one of the best jobs out there."

Bam.
