Remember when NY Giants Players Threatened to Walk if LT got $250k as a Rookie?

Lawrence Taylor was the #2 overall NFL pick in 1981 by the New York Giants. The LBout of North Carolina wanted a 750k contract over 3 years and his new teammates talked about walking out if the rookie got that much.

Taylor signed. He then held out of training camp in the summer of 1983 for three weeks. The holdout ended when LT came back to the team, reportedly under his old contract, with three games remaining in the preseason. The Giants eventually gave Taylor a new six-year $6.2-million-dollar contract for 1984. Below is one of his 25 paychecks that year.

The fines? Probably for not weight lifting. LT was fined regularly for not working out, well, regularly.

18 bucks per ticket for Giants - Dallas. Ah, the days.....

NFLPA dues of $83.34...
