PSU Sports Broadcast Journalism Student Beaten Down by Craig Carton [Audio]

Garden of Screams -- Penn State Sports Broadcast Journalism student Karisa Maxwell (who inexplicably tweeted 11.09.11 #NeverForget earlier) called in to WFAN's Boomer & Carton show on behalf of the school's radio station (She's on the ComRadio PSU staff - she also contributes to DolphinsTalk.com) to argue against Joe Paterno's firing because of all the good he's done. (Clarification - while she may have physically made the call in...show producer Al Dukes had reached out to her first. KM tweets: for the record, they called me asking for an interview based on my coverage of the riots. I did not call them.) So Craig Carton edumacated young Maxwell on all the bad that he's done.

Ms. Maxwell held up well. Didn't break down. And? Learned a Sun Tzu like lesson -- don't fight on the other guys turf. Especially when you're on a volume controlled telephone.

She did later tweet a few warnings: "if administration cancels the remainder of the football season all hell will really let loose, that's all we have to look forward to" and "Ignore the rumors. The seniors, and rest of the team are going to #PlayForJoe" as well as "Penn State Football Alums will be in full force on Saturday"

Exciting times for PSU journalism, no? Al Dukes? Get Lexi Belculfine on the phone, now!

Note - Maxwell supports 'THON' THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world! It’s a year-long effort that raises funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer. Help out here. (And if you don't think a beating helps out a young media type...you're lost.)

**Update -- we offered Ms. Maxwell the opportunity to pen a rebuttal and...we we're turned down.
