Former Phillies batting practice pitcher Ali Modami is suing the team and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr for defamation

Former Phillies batting practice pitcher Ali Modami is suing the team and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. for defamation. Ruben fired Ali on October 11, 2011, stating that the team was going in a different direction and 'changing the hitting program.'

Modami went on to interview with the Dodgers and Nationals, not getting either spot. Inquiring minds wanted to know why. Enter Davey Lopes, former Phillies coach. He says Amaro told both Dodgers GM Ned Colletti and Nationals GM Mike Rizzo that Modami was fired from the Phillies for stealing and selling memorabilia.

What is this, the Mets clubhouse?

It gets stranger. Apparently, Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is the one who told Amaro about the memorabilia theft.

This is why we HR folks tell you GM types - shut up. Yes, he worked he and was always on time is fine.
