USA Hockey held a Tuesday media teleconference to discuss Tortorella’s hiring as coach of Team USA for the World Cup of Hockey in 2016, and three consecutive prank callers sent the conference into a complete tailspin, beginning with a hack who identified himself as Gil Johnson with Slapshot.org.
“Hi, hello coach? I heard, John, you say about the whole family tree thing; that was funny,” Johnson said. “Real quick: Your mom is so bald, even a wig wouldn’t help. Did you hear that one?”
“Pardon me?” Tortorella responded.
A USA Hockey official pleaded with a moderator named Jennifer to move to the next caller, but Johnson had the last word.
“Ahh, puck you!” he shouted before the hang-up.
