Sid Rosenberg returns to New York radio with a tentative opening date of December 15th. Rosenberg will be doing sports updates for 1010 WINS weekday morning drive from 6:15am to 9:45am. He'll work remotely from Florida as he will continue to host his 3-6PM show on WQAM.
Interested in seeing if they'll have Sid & Judy DeAngelis banter back and forth with Lee Harris, old school Don Imus style.
The Blitz reported in July that Sid's fill-ins at WFAN were pseudo interviews as WFAN Operations Manager Mark Chernoff is a big supporter, but that CBS had yet to jump on board. Apparently they have...WINS is CBS owned. So look at the 1010 gig as another step towards a full time New York hosting spot.
A source close to that station told us that they believe Rosenberg has an 'out clause' that kicked in after year one was up in his 2 year contract with 560 AM. Sid joined WQAM on September 7, 2009 and recently signed a 1 year extension through Sep 2012 so we do not know if that out still applies.
We'll update if the 12/15 date changes. Welcome back Sid.
