In June, 2010 -- Sirius announced the So You Think You Can Talk Sports? contest. A few weeks later? WFAN launched the (much more successful) Fantasy Phenom bit. We wrote:
No, this is nothing like the So You Think you can be a Sports Radio Host? contest that Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo announced on the David Letterman Show Monday night. V/P Sports Programming CBS Radio, V/P Programming CBS Radio New York, and WFAN Operations Manager Mark Chernoff has been working on this idea for well over a year. It took that long to set up the mall locations where you will be able to try out because he's been very busy tracking down vitaminwater® thieves.
Here's classic Russo audio from 2010 in which he tells Opie & Anthony the same thing.
Now how's that from the guy that now would like mid days on Chernie's station?
Franklin High School (CA) vs Davis High School, Division 1 playoffs yesterday. Up 5-3 in the 7th, catcher Nick Frei drives in two...one of the two was Sean Nicholson...who jumped over catcher Hayden Duer.
The defending champion Wildcats of Elk Grove beat Bee No. 1 Davis 12-3. And Nicholson joins LSU's Raph Rhymes and Tupelo's Caleb Walker in the, believe they can fly, category.
Alexis Normand sang some of the National anthem yesterday before the 2013 Memorial Cup game between the Portland Winterhawks and the Halifax Mooseheads. Oofah. The crowd pitched in to bring her home.
She later tweeted apologies and thanked the fans for the help.
I'm embarrassed and deeply sorry. I wish I'd had more time to learn the American anthem. Thanks so much for the crowd's help! #memorialcup

Army Lieutenant Colonel William T. Adams return home to Tampa last night? How about Lt. Col. Bill Scherling, "just back from an overseas deployment, arrives at center ice to surprise his daughters (and Minnesota Selects XXV participants) Anna and Sami prior to the start of a game at the Dave Torrey Arena in St. Cloud, Minn."
Alayna Adams threw the ceremonial first pitch to her father, Army Lieutenant Colonel William T. Adams, last night at the Red Sox / Rays game. The rub? She didn't know dad had returned from a one-year deployment in Afghanistan...and was serving as her catcher.
