Sports Cameraman Jeremy Shultz Critical Following Surgery After House Fire [Video]

**Jeremy Shultz has passed away.

37-year-old sports cameraman Jeremy Shultz is in critical condition at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center - Doctors Hospital of Augusta following a house fire in Goose Creek, SC yesterday morning. Fire fighters believe the fire started in the fireplace. "The whole back of the house, screen porch, covered porch was well involved. The house was wood framed so fire was into the attic on the second floor," Assistant Chief Norm Cutshall said.

Shultz is expected to come out of emergency surgery around 4pm EST today. He'll be moved to ICU at that point.

Friends say Schultz tried to remove a gas can from the back porch in an attempt to save the house, but instead he became engulfed when gasoline spilled on him. "We saw a bunch of flames shoot out the back of the house," neighbor Cole Bolchoz said. "I've been in war and it kind of looked like a war zone last night," Bolchoz added.

Jeremy's wife, Maryanne, and 2 children, Dallas and Cinnamin, are reportedly safe.

Shultz had been workin for CBS.

Raw video after the jump.

A page has been created on Facebook for updates and for donations. Please visit the Jeremy Shultz Family Donations Page for further information.

Some updates from friends and family piggybacked from the Facebook page above (1/02/11):

"second surgery went as expected..his face was debrieded and he looks like the Jerm we all know and love"

"the doctors cleaned his entire front side. They placed cadaver skin on his chest. Its a great thing b...ecause he will start healing in this area. His torso has been burned severly and medicaly treated directly on top of his muscle which will later be covered with skin grafts. His face looks like Jeremy and was the only place that was not burned so bad. He will go back into surgery tomorrow to focus on his legs. Dr. Mullins has made it clear that things will get worse before better but encourages us to talk to him even though he cannot talk back. The next few weeks will be most challenging."

Jeremy was expected back in surgery today (Sunday). Visit the FB page for updates at this point and donate if you can.

NFL, Create a Sexual Harassment Program & Suspend Favre and There Will Be No Future Litigation: Sterger's Manager [Audio]

NEW YORK - APRIL 28: Model Jenn Sterger attends the PR/PR launch party at Red Bull Space on April 28, 2009 in New York City. (Photo by Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for PR/PR)

[*Update, Jenn Sterger made her first public appearance since August at a Project Sunshine event.]

Jennifer Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, appeared on the Dan Patrick Show this morning. "I don't know what's taking so long here," Reese said of the NFL's investigation. "We have done everything to assist the investigation. We have gone above and beyond. We've been told the league is going to do the right thing."

And Phil said that up until the Peter King report on Sunday indicating that the NFL would not suspend Brett Favre, he was 99% sure that the NFL was going to do the right thing. Now he's 99% sure that they are not going to do the right thing.

Highlights:

Jenn was advised at the time of the events that going to the New York Jets with the harassment story would have probably meant losing her job. So she did not.

If the NFL does the right thing with the preponderance of evidence against Favre regarding charges he sexually harassed Sterger, case closed. "If the commissioner suspends Favre and puts a program in place to prevent it from happening again...100 percent, Jenn would not pursue any litigation against Favre, against the Jets, against the NFL. Nothing. All she wants to do is clear her name. This is not about money," Reese said.

*Update - ESPN is running a ticker that indicates "Jenn Sterger's public relations manager Phil Reese tells SI.com's Dan Patrick Show that Sterger would not pursue litigation against Vikings QB Brett Favre or Jets if NFL suspends Favre." ESPN completely missing the point that Jenn wants the creation of a program within the NFL that works to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace for the betterment of all employees going forward.

Reese addressed the fact that Jenn texted the QB's number at one point. In 2008, Jenn was receiving creepy texts purported to be from Brett. She had no idea at the time if they were actually from him or if this was some sort of prank. However, Favre would often stare her down when they passed each other at work. A bizarre, creepy stare. So Sterger replied to one of the texts with something like "If this is you, the least you could do is smile instead of giving me that creepy stare every time that you pass by."

Later, in the tunnel that lead to the field at Giants Stadium, Favre passed Sterger.

The quarterback removed his helmet and gave her a big, forced smile. A person who was with her at the time said, "Whoa that was weird..." That witness testified before the NFL two weeks ago, corroborating Sterger's story on the matter.

Bus Cook - the night before the Deadspin story broke - had a conversation with Reese. "He [Cook] asked me is there a specific figure that you had in mind to make this go away," Reese indicated.

Reese concluded that Sterger has "provided extensive evidence that irrefutably proves there was harassment. No matter what happens Jenn has all legal remedies, including going public...if the NFL doesn't clear her name."

Proof he was the sender of texts, NFL? Would seem like a yes just based on the few facts available publically. And the Sterger offer? Too generous. In our opinion it seems as if the Jets, the NFL, and, obviously, Brett Favre are all culpable here. 90 some percent of sexual harassment cases end in some sort of monetary compensation. That should be the case here...but it seems as if Jennifer is taking the high road.

Is Roger Goodell's team focused on the facts - or are they focused on 300...?

And, you might recall, Patrick reported in early November that his sources told him that the Jets knew all about the harassment back in '08.

Your move Roger. Acutally, it's been your move for some time.

12-Year-Old Fundraising for Paralyzed Rutgers Star Eric LeGrand

Just in to the Blitz:

Hello. My name is Matthew Taffet, I am 12 years old and a Rutgers football fan. On October 16, Eric LeGrand, a junior defensive tackle for Rutgers Scarlet Knights, suffered a serious spinal cord injury. I want to help and am asking you to consider helping me to achieve a goal of aiding Eric LeGrand and his family.

Eric is a 20 year old student whose life will be forever changed. He was a star football player at Colonia Highs School and has been an excellent player at Rutgers. I have decided there are a few things I can do to help Eric: raise funds to assist him and his family, keep him in my thoughts, and raise awareness in the community.

I have designed a red and black bracelet that says "52 We Believe 52." For anyone who makes a contribution, I want to send you a bracelet. I am also selling bracelets at stores, in my neighborhood, and with the help of friends. Perhaps Practicing for Divorce, Brett Favre Gives $600k to Minnesota Charities

Brett and Deanna Favre's foundation, Favre 4 Hope Foundation, has given $600,000 in grants to four Minnesota charities, according to Favre's website. Deanna and Brett paid surprise visits to a hospital and Ronald McDonald House to present the grants on last Friday...as Brett was supposedly hobbled by his ankle issue.

Favre also made a $2,400 donation to Rep. Gene Taylor, a Democrat who represents Favre’s home district in southeast Mississippi. Taylor lost his House seat to newcomer Steven Palazzo (R).‎

In a related story (which as since been pulled from ShowBizSpy) the National Enquirer was apparently set to release D word rumors:

"Deanna has threatened to leave him twice before over his badboy ways,” a source the National Enquirer.

“If the sexting scandal proves true, it could be the end of their marriage.”

1/2 of the sexting scandal has been proven true, at least according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer. She's still hanging with him.

Sterger, NFL Likely Meet Next Week: Agent, Attorney

There is a very strong likelihood that Jenn Sterger will meet with the NFL regarding the Brett Favre / Deadspin matter late next week. Both her attorney, Joseph Conway, and her agent, Phil Reese, have told the Blitz.

Conway emailed the Blitz: "Nothing definite. It's likely she will and, if so, late next week."

Makes perfect sense to allow the resources of the NFL to be utilized this way. Any info Jennifer provides to the National Football League's security forces will allow them to investigate Deadspin's allegations further, on their dime.

Jenn's agent, Phil Reese, also emailed us: "There is nothing definitive at the moment. It's likely, but wouldn't be before the end of next week."

Sterger's cooperation with the NFL would mean all resources focused on how Favre got her number, whether or not Brett texted the photos in question, and, perhaps, who tipped off Deadspin/Gawker.

The Hannah Storm Foundation Funds First Infant Surgery

Did you know that Hannah Storm was born with a life altering port wine stain over her left eye? Did you know that several surgeries later - it is still there and if she doesn't have sunglasses on - folks ask her if she has a black eye?

It's true. She writes:

When I was in fifth grade, I underwent the first of two "serial excisions," which meant a hospital stay, under full anesthesia. The surgeon would actually cut out a slice of skin where the birthmark appeared, and then stitch the rest together. Sometimes, even now, I can still feel the pull of those scars. Later, I had a tattoo, "flesh-colored" according to the well-meaning doctor. But in reality, a pasty off-white color that still stands in contrast to the deep red marks of the port-wine stain. In high school and college, the Laser was the new solution, but one that left painful third degree burns under my eye. After two treatments, the second of which left me in uncontrollable teenage tears, I was done, no more treatments.

Hannah created the Hannah Storm Foundation because of her experiences. "The Hannah Storm Foundation was created in 2008 to raise awareness, fund treatment and provide educational information for children suffering from debilitating and disfiguring Vascular Birthmarks. Hannah's passion stems from having a port wine stain birthmark underneath her left eye. The Foundation also funds the Hannah Storm Journalism Internship at Notre Dame. It was started in 2006 as an opportunity for current Notre Dame undergraduate students to gain practical experience while working in the Alumni Association's Communications and Marketing department."

And the work has paid off. Here Storm introduces you to Tingyi and the 1st surgery funded by the Hannah Storm Foundation:

Jenn Sterger's Attorney, Joseph Conway...Who is he Anyway?

By now you know the name, Joseph Conway, ESQ. He's Jennifer Sterger's attorney for the whole Brett Favre / Deadspin ordeal.

But who is Joseph R. Conway?

Conway received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John's University and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. As an Assistant United States Attorney for more than fourteen years, he prosecuted many high profile cases:

Sept 94. USA v. Peter LeMay (82nd Airborne Paratrooper) LeMay sent a pipe bomb through the mail to kill his wife’s boyfriend. He ended up pleading guilty. In a twist, a year later proscecutors ended up convicting the wife of bank robbery.

1997 USA v. Ricardo Espinosa. Multiple defendant drug ring from Columbia to Guatemala to Houston to NY. Conway helped to convict over 20 defendants. Last defendant was a trial against Arnoldo Vargas Estrada, who was the Mayor of Zacapa, which was the 2nd largest city in Guatemala. The May had a landing strip for planes to arrive and an underground storage facility where over 1700 kilos of cocaine were discovered.

1998 USA v. Rosie and Vance Baker. Mother and son tried and convicted of of conspiracy to commit murder with intent to obstruct justice. They executed a Dr. (who they believed to be a government informant) who was to expose their Medicare Fraud. Sentenced to life without parole after a 2 week trial.

1998 USA v. John Spano. Isles fans remember this one. Fraud conviction on the man who attempted to buy the NY Islanders Hockey Team. He was one payment away from taking the team. Sentenced to 70 months.

2000 USA v. Michael Swango. The 'Doctor of Death' MD who was suspected of killing in excess of 50 people throughout the country and overseas. We convicted him in the death of three patients at the Northport LI Veterans Hospital and a murder of a young female in Ohio. Serving life without parole.

2001/03 USA v. Albert Isernio et al. Political corruption of several defendants who were convicted of bribing the then Deputy County Executive of Nassau County to get a healthcare contract worth millions.

Joseph started the LaRusso & Conway law firm in September, 2004. Since that time, they have handled many 'big cases' including the following high profile media cases:

Adam Kidan (partner of Jack Abramoff) fraud/political scandal case out of Florida.

Paul Sullivan – SBA fraud case. He is the uncle of Lindsay Lohan (Diana’s brother).

Oreste Joseph Bruni an ER doctor charged in a steroid case – He was exonerated despite being tried in the press.

Conway represented the law firm Ingerman Smith of Long Island when State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo started an investigation into possible financial misconduct at five Long Island school districts. Ingerman Smith was never charged with any crimes.

Scott Braun. 'Scooter' is the manager of Justin Bieber. He is currently charged in Nassau County based upon a riot that occurred during a performance of his Justin's in Roosevelt Field. (No longer representing him due to a conflict)

Currently represents the family of Olivia Raspanti, a 2 year that died March 17, 2009 at the Carousel Day Care Center after choking on a carrot. The Center recently plead guilty and, along with Thomas Foley, (another attorney) they have a multi-million dollar law suit pending.

Joseph has also been appointed as Special Independent Counsel by the Suffolk County Legislature in reference to an Ethics inquiry involving the County Executive, Steve Levy, and the Ethics Commission.

Notice the trend with many of these cases? High profile within New York and national media. Also? Highly investigatable cases...sources indicate that the firm has an excellent stable of ex-FBI investigators that they utilize for such purposes. (Coincidentally the NFL's Vice President of Security, Milt Ahlerich, had a 25 year career with the FBI)

Seems the Sterger camp knew what it was doing when it retained LaRusso & Conway in this matter. Get the feeling that Deadspin's third party supplier might be sweating this a bit.

Steve Ostergren, owner of "Scarlet Fever," a store on Rutgers University's campus, produced a shirt to raise money for paralyzed football player Eric LeGrand.

"I don't know Eric personally or the family but as a fan, it's like, 'this guy is battling so we can go cheer our team on'," said Ostergren. "He put all that on the line for us. So, it's the least we can do."

Favre Admits to Leaving Sterger Voice Mails: Jay Glazer [Video]

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, Brett Favre admitted in his meeting with NFL security last week that he left Jennifer Sterger (above) voice mails. He did not cop to sending penis pics.

Glazer's Edge: Favre Speaks

Deadspin's investigation (We're assured that the acquisition of the pics and voicemails was in a clean chain of custody) indicates that all the calls and all the pics came from the same phone number. Favre may have thought that 'admitting to the lesser offense' approach might help him with the league, however, it may have just fried him with the law.

Sure it fried him with Deanna.

Your move, Sterger camp. Asked if they'd like to comment on this development, Jenn's attorney, Joseph R. Conway wrote, "Not at this time."

Jesse Ventura Doesn't Care about Favre's Dong as long as Brett Beats the Pack's Ass

38629, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - Monday March 15 2010. Former wrestler and politician Jesse Ventura leaves the Larry King Live studios in Hollywood. Photograph: Greg Tidwell, PacificCoastNews.com

Jesse Ventura (above, possibly in Wranglers) told FOXSports.com that he's had enough of the Brett Favre / Jenn Sterger coverage. "The only thing I want Brett to do is beat the Packers' ass again," said Ventura. "That's the only thing I care about. The rest is your business."

The ex-wrestler added, "That's the way it should be. They're just pro athletes. Nothing more, nothing less."

Guess he lied when he told Howard Stern, "There are no newspapers down where I live. Where I live, I'm an hour from pavement and an hour from electricity..I'm completely off the grid."

Jenn Sterger is not a pro-athlete. Neither are the two masseuses (that we are aware of). And that kind of talk leads to "they're just" writers, politicians, accountants, teachers, etc.

Be willing to bet that the ex-Navy Seal would have lost his Gubernatorial seat if someone sent those pics to his daughter, Jade.

A rooster is fitted with a set of spurs during its training phase at Dona Cata's, possibly because the rooster's talons just aren't sharp enough.

Jenn Steger's Agent: Received Phone Call from Brett Favre 'Number' in June 2009

The same phone number that sexted Jennifer Sterger in 2008 was used to call the Broadway Bombshell in June of 2009. Brett Favre was no longer with the NY Jets at the time. He was on a visit to New York to film Joe Buck Live as a man without a team. (HBO said Favre agreed in April, 2009 to appear on the show at the request of Buck)

"The same number that was used to send the messages in 2008 is the same one used to call Jenn in 2009, when Favre was in New York to film 'Joe Buck Live,' " said a source to the NY Post.

The source added:

"If she was to go in, that [conduct by Favre] would be corroborated and there would probably be a bit more," the source said.

Asked if Jenn did indeed receive a call from the same phone number in June 2009, her agent Phil Reese said, "Yes."

Harassment has turned to stalking. If not by Favre, then by someone who intimately knew the man's schedule.

No Mid-Week NFL Security / Sterger Meet Planned: Sterger Attorney

New York Daily News scribe Nathaniel Vinton writing about Jennifer Sterger roughly an hour ago: "According to a source close to the Sterger camp, if a meeting between Sterger and the NFL does take place, it will probably occur mid-week. Sterger's new attorney, former federal prosecutor Joseph Conway, is in ongoing discussions with the league about a potential meeting, as The News reported Wednesday."

Throwing in 'probably' and the lax time frame of 'mid-week' doesn't make the prediction any more or less legitimate, however.

Conway, of the law firm La Russo and Conway, told the Blitz when asked if the NFL had imposed a deadline on Jenn's camp to speak with them: "No deadline." When asked whether the Sterger team was planning a mid-week meeting with the NFL next week, Conway replied via email: "No plan. No deadline. No decision at this point if a meeting will in fact take place. We have an open dialogue with the NFL."

Sterger has left the local area to be with family and friends for the weekend. As to the 'Jenn Preps to Talk to NFL' headlines - Conway said they could be in contact with each other if it became necessary.

Ex-Seminoles Player Faces Caning in Singapore

Former Florida State University football player Kamari Charlton is facing a maximum jail term of six months and at least three cane strokes for overstaying his visa in Singapore.

Perhaps a sadist, Charlton has compounded his issues by becoming a suspect in a money laundering scheme:

Prosecutors alleged Friday that calls made from former Florida State University football player Kamari Charlton's mobile phone in March deceived Mirko Prskalo into sending 17,145 Australian dollars ($16,853) in four payments. Prskalo was told that his nephew and family in Singapore urgently needed the money, court documents showed.

Not the first time that he's been in trouble. He was suspended by FSU in 1994 when he was charged with battery and sexual battery, but was later reinstated when he was acquitted of all charges.

But this, my friends, is Singapore. Just ask Michael Fay (go ahead, Google him)

Weapon of choice? The Rattan Cane, soaked in water...

Maybe we should add caning to the potential can of remedies that Brett Favre should face if found to be the perv perpetrator who stalked FSU alumna, Jenn Sterger.
